RESEARCH STUDENTS AND FELLOWS
A critical mass (currently 11) of outstanding young
researchers study for doctoral degrees in paediatric exercise science
within an experienced support structure of professors, lecturers, research
fellows and technicians.
Full technical and administrative support is provided. Postdoctoral
and postgraduate experiences are enhanced with a programme of roundtables,
seminar series, and regular inputs from visiting academics. All students
follow a customised taught programme in paediatric exercise physiology
(150 hours) and experimental design and statistics(300 hours) during
their first year. Students and Research Fellows have offices within
the Centre and both fellows and students are provided with a computer
with specialised software and internet access. Research students
and fellows have access to generous travel funds and enjoy
support for conference attendance. The majority of Centre students have both presented
their work to international conferences and published in international
peer-review journals. Several students have won national and international
prizes for research excellence and all Centre students have moved to
full-time employment following
graduation.
