"I found the two years with the Centre for Leadership Studies to be an amazing experience. I learnt so much about myself and my framing of my leadership arena. This came from not only the course material, but also the coaching that the experienced staff provided and the experiences of other students, who came from very different working environments and therefore could provide contrasting perspectives on topical issues." - Bobby Watkins, Consumer Division Manager, Acer UK "Leadership knows no boundaries. You don't need to be in a classroom to fully grasp and understand leadership. The Centre for Leadership Studies creates an interactive, relevant and dynamic program that I can feel part of...all the way from Canada. It is where you can combine thoughts and practice to better understand yourself, the class and the concepts." - Sam (Ajit) Thiara, Student Affairs Officer, Faculty of Business, Simon Fraser University, Canada "As part of a multi-stakeholder change programme the ability to better dissect, analyse and understand my own leadership style and role, and those of others, has been invaluable." - Brigadier John Wallace, Commandant of the Defence College of Logistics and Personnel Administration "Can you believe a Tokyo-based, middle-aged business man who is busy travelling the world is studying leadership at Exeter University every night? The leadership I'm studying here might be different from what you think it is. I find it is more artistic than scientific."- Saburo Haruta, Team Leader, LNG & Tank Calibration Team, Second Survey Service Center, NKKK (Nippon Kaiji Kentei Kyokai), Japan

Programmes

The Centre for Leadership Studies runs a portfolio of leadership development programmes, each of which are designed to meet the needs of different people at different stages in their careers.

We have a growing portfolio of modules designed for undergraduates who wish to develop their leadership capabilities and team working skills. Employers increasingly expect graduates to be skilled in these areas, so Exeter students are well placed to benefit from the expertise within CLS.

For more experienced managers who are looking to improve their practice we offer a variety of postgraduate study options including a part-time Masters (MA) in Leadership Studies and a leadership specialism on the Exeter MBA. Our Executive Education portfolio is also designed for experienced managers who might wish to develop their leadership capability via our short courses, the international Advanced Leadership Programme or the prestigious IoD Company Direction programme.

We also run programmes designed for people who want to undertake research training leading to a PhD . These include a part-time Masters (MRes) and a full time Masters (MSc) both of which prepare candidates for the MPhil/PhD in Leadership Studies.

Each of these programmes encourages you to reflect on the practice of this curious, simple yet complex thing that continues to challenge the most experienced and able people of our time - leadership!
