Funding OpportunitiesFunding Opportunities at the University of Exeter:The University offers a wide range of awards to support students in their studies. We also have significant experience of helping our students with successful applications to Research Councils and are happy to provide advice and guidance to all applicants. Full details can be found at: http://admin.exeter.ac.uk/academic/scholarships/ Other funding opportunities:The Institute for Historical Research (IHR) publishes a very useful annual list of sources of funding for historians, including postgraduate and postdoctoral awards, prizes, travel and library grants and more: Emily Morrell and Jane Winters eds., Grants for History 2009: A Guide to Funding, ISBN: 978 1 905165 41 4, £15.00 The Philip Nicholas Bursary for £3,000 per annum, is provided annually by the Philip Nicholas Trust for suitably qualified new applicants for an MPhil/PhD degree in Maritime History (including naval) under the age of 25. SWMHS bursaries for Centre students: The South West Maritime History Society, in pursuance of its charitable status remit to encourage research into maritime history in the south west, has awarded two annual £250 research travel bursaries to the Centre for Maritime Historical Studies.
