Prof. Kapelan received recently the 2010 ASCE Associate Editor Award. The award was given by the ASCE Board Publications Committee for “consistent and exemplary service to the Journal of Water Resource Planning and Management”. Prof. Kapelan was also recently commended for his "continuous, professional, thorough work" by the journal’s editor, Prof. Avi Ostfeld, in his editor's note. The above award is shared with George Voyiadjis, Associate Editor for the Journal of Engineering Mechanics.
