The recent CCWI2011 Conference, was attended by over 230 delegates more than half of whom came from 26 countries around the world. Many exciting new research findings were presented during the three-day event. Members of the Centre for Water Systems presented a number of papers, but two caught not only imagination of the delegates present at the conference but also of the world’s news media. One deals with using Artificial Intelligence technologies to detect leaks in water distribution networks and the other explains how gaming technology (graphical processing units) can be used to model flooding rapidly .
