The project conference explored the variety of political and cultural responses to bombing carried out against predominantly urban targets in Britain, France, Germany and Italy during the Second World War. The conference keynote address was delivered by Jay Winter, the Charles J Stile Professor or History at Yale University. Papers and discussions explored the following themes:
