Water Resources

The University of Exeter has an international reputation in surface water hydrology and long experience in groundwater studies in the UK and internationally for the assessment of resources for public supply, irrigation and industrial use. The application of hydrological investigations to pollution, waste disposal and environmental studies has been carried out for many projects. A long-term involvement in hydrogeochemical research for mineral reconnaissance and environmental monitoring strongly augments the capability in water resources and quality assessment.

The Centre is therefore able to offer

  • Surface water assessments
  • Hydrogeological investigations
  • Advice on groundwater resource development
  • Design of observation boreholes & monitoring systems
  • Aquifer testing and production borehole design
  • Groundwater vulnerability mapping & hazard identification
  • Advice on water quality analysis, analytical schedules & sampling
  • Hazard assessment
  • Advice on the surveying and checking of reservoirs
