Democracy and the Turkish Republic
The genesis and evolution of the Turkish Republic after the fall of the Ottoman State has become a text-book example of political development through the twentieth century.
Turkish Election Media Study
This project studies media coverage of the campaign leading to the election in Turkey on 22 July, 2007. The campaign agenda, topics, presence of the EU, coverage of political actors and the tone of the campaign are assessed in television news broadcasts and in the daily newspapers. Initial results are published in Turkish Studies 9:2 (2007)
Professor Susan Banducci (Dept of Politics, HuSS) will lead the group of comparative politics researchers into the role of elections, voting patterns, and democratic participation as a key feature of the recent Turkish political experience.
